International Sparkling Wine Symposium 2011
Some of the most experienced figures in the sparkling wine world will be speaking at the International Sparkling Wine Symposium 2011.
The event, now in its second year, takes place at the beginning of November at Denbies .
Speakers include Ed Carr, group sparkling winemaker of Accolade Wines (formerly Constellation), Bertrand Robillard of the Institut Oenologie de Champagne and Pierre-Aymeric du Cray of Mumm and Perrier Jouet.
Subjects covered over the two days of ISWS range from Carr on the propagation and management of yeast cultures to case studies of Brazil and Cap Classique in South Africa as emerging sparkling regions, and different jetting techniques for air expulsion.
On the second day, Decanter editor Guy Woodward chairs a discussion on the future of English sparkling, with Mike Roberts of RidgeView, Bob Lindo of Camel Valley, Waitrose buyer Dee Blackstock and consultant Mike Paul.
Other talks cover effective PR, and journalist Robert Joseph wraps up the conference with a talk on consumer perceptions of sparkling wine.
